<description>I have visitors from Panama and they have not had the opportunity to see a first rate zoo. I visit the Oakland zoo frequently and have enjoyed every one of my trips to see all the exhibits at this small facility. I wanted my visitors first trip to a zoo to be an exceptional experience. It has been years since I visited the San Francisco zoo, but I always thought of the “San Francisco Zoo” as a first rate zoo. I chose to take my visitors to the San Francisco zoo and had built up their expectations. The entrance fees to the S.F. zoo and parking fees are much more than the Oakland zoo – which made me expect to see improvements and a first class zoo. To put it mildly, I have never been so embarrassed and disappointed in my life. The S. F. zoo is “definitely” off my things to see list and I will advise everyone to avoid this facility. With the exception of a couple of exhibits, the zoo is in shambles. The exhibits are in horrible condition and some of the animals look malnourished and neglected. Worst zoo I have ever seen in my life. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? I have visited many zoos and animal parks across the United Stated and nothing else is as bad as your zoo. The San Francisco zoo went from a first class zoo to a nightmare.

The only thing that saved the day was that----- I took my visitors to the Oakland zoo on our way home. We all enjoyed seeing the animals - as I always do at this zoo.
