Thank you for a really interesting article! It inspired me to dig deeper to find more information on exo-planet research. Fascinating stuff! In my digging one fun activity popped up that I thought I’d share. NASA Education has developed an “educational, interactive, multimedia Web environment highlighting NASA careers and astrobiology research in the areas of Astronomy, Geology, Biology and Atmospheric Science.” At the “Astro-venture” site, participants learn about NASA occupations and “use scientific inquiry, as they search for and build a planet with the necessary characteristics for human habitation. Supporting activities include chats with real NASA scientists, online collaborations, classroom lessons, student publishing area and occupations fact sheets.” For a fun exercise go to http://astroventure.arc.nasa.gov/ and design a planet!
